Maternity Q&A

(1) When's the best time for a maternity photo shoot?

The best time to take your maternity shoot is when your bump is full and round, i.e. between 32rd and 36th week. This is the best time when I can accentuate your most beautiful curve through my lens. Since your baby may pop out anytime from 36th week onwards, please do not delay it further or we may miss the chance to capture this most unforgettable stage.

(2) When should I book a session?

Since my schedule is tight and there is chance that your baby will come early, to avoid disappointment, please book it 2 – 3 months prior to your due date. Moreover, we can discuss the outfit you need and you still have time to get prepared if you don’t have one on hand.

(3) Can you do the shoot outdoor or at my place?

Yes, absolutely. Apart from doing the shoot at my studio, I can do the shoot at your home where you probably feel most comfortable. We can also do it outdoor, such as countryside or a place which is meaningful to you.

(4) What should I wear?

I would recommend you wear a figure-hugging cotton top which is long enough to cover your bump and accentuates your curve. It should be a plain and light color top with no busy pattern. Since some mum-to-bes like to have a close-to-nude style, I would recommend them wear skin-colored strapless bra and underpants. For such case, I will call you to discuss how to get prepared.

(5) Can I bring my partner?

Sure, your partner is most welcome to be featured and also be there to help your relax.

(6) I have a young kid. Can I bring he/she with me for the shoot?

Yes, having your young kid around to participate in the shoot is just wonderful. Your little kid and you will bring good chemistry to the photos. It does not only add colors to the visuals, but also helps he/she get ready for the arrival of your new family member.

(7) Can you document my laboring process?
Yes, definitely. If you can get the approval from the hospital, I will be very happy to use my lens to document the most touching and unforgettable moments of your family. Imagine how memorable it is when your husband is by your side, tightly holding your hand to cheer you up during labor. Imagine how you feel when you have a first look at your little one. There are just a lot of touching moments which should be remembered.

(8) When I can get the photos?
I will do basic touch up to all photos I took. Please allow me to have at least a week for editing. I will call you to arrange a delivery of the photo CD when it is ready.

(9) When should I settle the payment?

Please settle the payment upon the completion of the shoot by cash.

Newborn Q&A

(1) When is the best time for a newborn shoot?
I think it’s most meaningful to capture the special features of newborns, such as their body hair, wrinkles, and the ways they curve up (such as how they position inside your bump), so I would recommend doing the shoot between the 5th to 14th day, before those features go away. Having said that, I also do shoots for babies who are 2- to 3-month-old.
(2) Can you conduct the shoot outside of your studio?
Sure, you can decide if the shoot takes place at my studio or your home if conditions allow. If you choose the latter, I’d appreciate you send me a few photos of your place in advance for reference. Ideally, your place should have a large window, which allows me using natural light, and the surrounding should be clean and simple without distracting objects.
(3) How should I prepare my baby?
Since newborns sleep a lot, I usually do the shoot when they are sleeping. Please feed your baby before the shoot, as a content and sleeping baby is most photogenic and adorable, and it also smoothens the shoot. The shoot should take place at the time of a day when your baby usually sleeps well.
